I was recently in Sydney, and as I puttered around Sydney Harbour on my morning sojourn, I found myself standing underneath the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
By the way, it’s quite the feat of engineering. Opened in 1932, the Sydney Harbour Bridge consists of 4 x 89 meter pylons consisting of 17,000 cubic meters of granite and 52,800 tonnes of steel. All up, around 6 million rivets were used to hold the whole thing together. Unfortunately, 16 workers also lost their lives in its construction.
So as I looked up at this magnificent piece of architecture and human engineering, it got me thinking about how small I felt standing underneath it and how fragile life can be.
Shaking off that thought, I carried on towards Circular Quay and as I rounded the point, I saw the mighty COSTA LUMINOSA docked at the Sydney Passenger Terminal. This massive boat is 294m long and stands 12 storeys high and looks a bit like a skyscraper that has fallen into the sea and learnt to float.
It must have been fate, as I had only just seen a couple of blokes out fishing in their tinny as a ferry washed past them, and I remembered thinking about how tiny they looked next to the ferry.
And how tiny a ferry looks next to the cruise liner, and I got to thinking: there is always another level.
So I took the photo above showing those 2 massive structures with a ferry in the foreground for reference purposes.
Mankind it seems is constantly pushing the boundaries of what is achievable. This desire to improve, innovate and grow must somehow be innately hard wired into our DNA.
Whether it’s how fast we run, how high we jump, or how tall we build, we’re seemingly drawn to pushing the boundaries of our own limitations like moths to a flame.
So when it comes to your own financial position, what level are you at right now?
And even more importantly: what does your next level look like?
Are you happy to just watch life pass you by from the shoreline? Are you content to drift through the seas of life in a rowboat?
Or do you want to be powering around life in your very own 100 ft. super yacht?
We do that by firstly understanding what you have done to date – then clearly identifying where it is you really want to be financially. The choice is always up to you, but making that choice can often be the first step – and possibly the hardest.
There’s all sorts of emotional baggage that can get in the way of you making that critically important decision:
What if I fail?
What will others think of me?
What if I succeed?
Am I even worthy of a life filled with abundance?
Identifying where you want to be financially and making the commitment to yourself and your family that you are going to get there is the first step. Once the decision has been made, it’s then just a matter of working with the right people and executing the appropriate strategies until you make it.
Now I don’t want to trivialize things here, but I do want to highlight that you will never ever get to the next level unless you make the decision that you not only want it, you’re committed to doing whatever it takes to get there.
So, tell me: are you ready to jump on board and take your results to the next level?
If you’re ready to get on up to the next level, if you’re ready to get committed to your success, then now’s the time to act.
