Nothing Is as Constant as Change

In investing and in life, how you feel about change can have a big impact on the quality of your results. "I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination." — Jimmy Dean As you read this, Luke and I have just returned from Bali. Now the main reason we traveled to Bali (as if we needed an excuse to have a break from Melbourne in winter) was to create the space to write a book on our favourite topic, Property Investing. That is why we chose to completely change our environment to deliberately get away from all of the normal day-to-day distractions that will flood in to fill our time, if we allow them to. To consciously flip our normal routines, providing us with the time and space to produce a high quantum of output in a relatively short space of time. To get extraordinary results by creating the environment that would best allow that to occur. "Change your thoughts and you change your world." — Norman Vincent Peale So let me ask you: how do you feel about change? Is it something you truly embrace...or something you try and eliminate from your life as much as possible? Now don’t get me wrong: I personally like a certain degree of routine in my life. I like waking up naturally without the need for an alarm and the ability to exercise during the day when and as I feel like it. I like catching up with my partner at the end of most days to chat about the cool things we’ve managed to fill our days with. They are only little things, but they impart a positive sense of wellbeing, providing me with a certain level of contentment and happiness. But I also recognise that change is an integral part of life. And the thing that is both the easiest and the hardest thing to change is our own minds. Over time, we all tend to become stuck in our ways to a certain extent. We begin to view the world in a certain way and believe that our way of seeing the world through our own set of filters is the only way — or at least the best. But I challenge everyone this month: stop and ask yourself a few questions.
  1. How open am I to taking onboard new ideas or beliefs?
  2. Is what I am currently doing the absolute best way to do things?
  3. Am I 100% happy with my results in all the areas of my life? Health, Family, Financial, Spiritual, Vocational etc.
  4. Am I willing to ask for help and be mentored to get a higher level of results?
"Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future." — John F. Kennedy Obviously, the economic landscape is in a constant state of flux. If we look at what has occurred over the last 12 months, we saw events that many would not have predicted, e.g. the Brexit vote and Donald Trump being given the keys to the White house. Looking forward over the next 12 months, who knows what new and interesting events will shape the world. But one thing we can bank on is that the economic landscape will change, and if your investment strategies don’t at least keep up — or better yet, predict how the winds of change will sweep through in the months and years ahead — you could be left to pick up the pieces of some shattered dreams. We encourage you to learn about what is happening — and what is likely to happen — by increasing your knowledge and awareness at one of our LIVE events scheduled for the second half of 2017: Property Intelligence Workshop October Free Live Preview Tour September We’d love to hear from you if you have any questions.
