Over the last month I have travelled to Bali,Thailand & Singapore and whilst I was primarily holidaying to recharge for an exciting second half of 2016, and running (some might say like a little baby) away from the cold of Melbourne’s winter, I can’t help but do a little detective work whilst in a different country.
Let me start by saying that I love travelling in Asia. Stepping off the plane you are immediately enveloped by what I can only describe as a warm, sweaty embrace as the heat and humidity of Asia seems to just cocoon your whole body and invade every sense you have. Quickly exchanging Melbourne’s winter wear for a pair of shorts, slapping on a singlet, and donning a pair thongs and I am ready to enjoy another Asian adventure.
One of the first things that I do, language permitting (P.S being a native English speaker and relatively mono-linguistic, I am acutely aware as to how spoilt I am, given that the rest of the world generally does a pretty good job at speaking my mother tongue), is to chat to the locals to try and get a feel for their day to day lives.
Now far from being a comprehensive scientific study or complete census of any of these populations, what I am going to share with you over the next few emails are just personal observations, experiences & conversations whilst I was away. Where I can, I will provide some research or data to support my claims, all with the view that I aim to add value to both your investing and your own lives here in Australia over the course of this blog series. As always I have a bit to say, and some of it may be a bit controversial.
